Public health learning platform launches

The Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) has launched an online learning platform to provide training and education in vital areas of public health.

RSPH Learn will give people the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to look after their own health and that of those around them.

The online courses, which offer Continuing Professional Development points or the opportunity to take an exam to receive a recognised qualification, cover:

Food health and safety – the hospitality and catering industries have been some of the hardest-hit sectors of the COVID-19 pandemic, but RSPH’s food safety courses will support those working in this sector to operate safely, protecting both their customers and their businesses. RSPH food safety courses have been designed in particular for people working in a commercial kitchen, hospitality venue or catering company, including chefs and catering staff.

Health improvement – Health Improvement courses cover everything from mental health support training to understanding health inequalities, and offer ideas to help people improve the health and wellbeing of their community. RSPH health improvement courses are ideal for organisations who want to set up Health Champions programmes and people who work in health and social care roles, including link workers, health coaches and pharmacy assistants.

Healthy Living Pharmacies –The RSPH Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) qualification is highly-regarded in the pharmacy sector and helps teach pharmacy teams about community engagement and health promotion.

RSPH Learn also hosts free courses to help educate and empower people to look after their own health, including issues which may have been exacerbated by the lockdowns. These include:

Mental Health: Looking after your Self-ie – a guide for adopting healthy social media habits

Sleep: Understanding Sleep – Don’t hit snooze on your health

Understanding Gambling Disorders

Samantha King, membership and educational services manager at RSPH said: ‘We are all very proud of RSPH Learn, our new online learning platform.

‘As well as allowing us to create and deliver more vital public health courses, it will also provide an improved learner experience and scope for more digital learning opportunities.

‘We can’t wait for people to start taking courses through the platform. Unlike a lot of online courses out there, RSPH courses are widely recognised by employers and higher education providers, and most come with the option of taking an exam to gain a qualification.

‘We chose the Agylia LMS as it provides all the features we require, including user-led registration, integration with our business platforms, curriculum building, dynamic design and a modern interface.

‘We also value the focus Agylia places on supporting charities and non-profits such as ourselves, working with us to create a tailored partnership that brings real value and supports us to achieve our strategic vision.’
